Session 1:

WHEN:
Thursday, Nov. 9 from 10:00 - 10:45 a.m.

TITLE: Best of INPUT with Tabitha Safdi, Chief Content Officer of South Carolina ETV

WHAT TO EXPECT:
Tabitha Safdi, CCO of South Carolina ETV, presents a session about INPUT, a non-profit organization of global public television program makers and broadcasters. Since 1978, INPUT has staged an annual conference to discuss and challenge the boundaries of public television. Tabitha explains how participating in INPUT can benefit stations. Tabitha is an award-winning media professional, public media enthusiast, content strategist and professional development advocate. She is the National Coordinator for INPUT in the U.S., and will be leading the helm for SCETV to host the 2024 INPUT conference in Charleston, S.C.

Session 2

WHEN:
Thursday, Nov. 9 from 10:45 - 11:30 a.m.

TITLE: The FASTs and the Furious (Rising Prices of SVODs): Is this Really Where TV’s Business Model is Heading, and What Does it Mean for Public TV?

SPEAKERS:
Judy Barlow, Vice President Business Development and International Sales, APT
Steve McGowan, Senior Vice President of Research, REELZ

WHAT TO EXPECT:
It’s been three years since Steve McGowan used his 2020 vision to forecast the future of television, but who could’ve seen this all coming? Cord-cutting has escalated and FAST (free ad-supported TV) channels are now where studios, networks and TV set makers are throwing spaghetti at the screen to see what’ll stick. Meanwhile, the collection of SVOD golden children are already showing their age and none have yet to turn a serious profit. After he re-establishes the landscape (version 2023), we’ll have a Q&A session to consider what APT and public TV stations can do to capitalize on its content and expand into new or existing outlets.
